The Toronto Star newspaper had a short article today that brighten up my day. I found out that the Monarch butterfly is gaining back some of the previous area it had lost in the protected national park "Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve" located in the states of Michocán, and México, in México. This natural reserve was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.
The good news is that their numbers and their area has increased significantly from the last two years. But there is still more improvement required before they are back to their previous levels. In any case, there is a significant improvement and that is cause for some cheer. The complete article can be read from the Star's "Monarch butterflies make partial comeback in Mexico".
